Where components are too badly damaged we can make close reproductions of the originals. we make one off voice coils close and often better than the originals. and can, on request customize drivers to a higher spec. We can make special one off design speakers for specialized applications, and offer a design and consultancy service.
Early days Boland Acoustic Laboratories was established in August 1986, after the closure of the Philips plant in Waihi. (prior to this Peter Boland was their speaker designer). initially offering a very small range of two models ,how ever it was soon expanded to a comprehensive range of up to eight models.
The most apparent feature on most of our models is the use of our long throw 4" bass/mid driver, this driver gives fast dynamic response and because of its small size it images extremely well. this driver of course went through its own evolution as we applied our research and development ,with higher power voice coil , 4 ohm variant, all new polymer frame stacked magnet assembly and TPX alloy polymer cone. ,this TPX polymer alloy was developed by us and is use solely by Boland Acoustic . all this technology was incorporated into our entire range.
We developed the legendary BTX160 incorporating a labyrinth loading for the bass drivers , bipolar mid range, and our unique soft dome ring radiator tweeter. all of the drivers shear time alignment by being placed in its own time plane in the cabinet, this is established by careful xover design and physical driver properties
